About this book
Polly and Digory are neighbours in London who explore the attics of their row of houses, and open the wrong door into the study of Digory's Uncle Andrew, a would-be magician. He tricks Polly into touching a magic ring that sends her away, and Digory follows to rescue her.
They find themselves in the Wood Between the Worlds, wake the witch Jadis in the dying world of Charn and bring her along to a new land where the lion Aslan is singing a world into being: Narnia. The story of how Narnia began, and the first book in the Narnia chronology.
