Chell wakes in a ruined Aperture Science laboratory after a very long sleep, and a talkative personality sphere called Wheatley offers to help her escape. But in the process he wakes GLaDOS, the facility's homicidal artificial intelligence, who has been waiting to test her again.
The game is a first-person puzzle game: you use a portal gun to move through test chambers, with new tools like gels and light bridges. Its dry humour and its writing made it one of the best-loved games of its time.
