About this book
Fifteen-year-old Clary Fray goes to a nightclub in New York with her friend Simon and sees three tattooed teenagers kill someone, and the body vanishes. She finds that she is the only one who can see them: they are Shadowhunters, who fight the demons that exist alongside the everyday world.
Within a day, her mother has gone missing and a demon has attacked her, and she is drawn into a hidden world of Nephilim, werewolves, vampires and faeries, and the search for the Mortal Cup. The first book in Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series.
