About this book
Morwenna Phelps grew up in the Welsh valleys talking to fairies among the ruins of old factories. After a disaster involving her mother, a witch, she is left with a limp, has lost her twin sister, and is sent to live with the father she has never met, who packs her off to an English boarding school.
She copes by reading science fiction and fantasy, and she casts a spell to find friends who love the same books. But her mother is looking for her again.
Told through Mori's diary entries from 1979 and 1980, it won both the Hugo and the Nebula Award for best novel.
